Bad Company 2 Multiplayer advice needed

Hi all,

So i the only experience playing Battlefield online until now was with BF1943 on the PSN which I loved and played for ages - then i switched to MW2 and Black Ops and now Ive bought BC2 and started playing mp

I was hoping anyone out there could offer some tips - things they wish they knew when they started... which maps are small, med and large for instance; or do you get a match bonus like in COD or can i quit out when i'm being spawn-trapped?

Any tips to do with any aspect of Conquest (the only type i play really) in BC2 would be mucho appeciated!

Playing with a full party really helps in Battlefield, other than that, I would say stick to the medic if you're new, all teams need a medic and the LMG's are really powerful.

Yeah, medics are pretty overpowered lol but very useful, you can easily get lots of points as medic. If you to snipe, two of the best maps for sniping are Isla Inocentes and Arica Harbour. If the map is big such as Arica Harbour, use Mortar Strike, if the map is small use C4. If you use vehicles lots, Engineer would be the best class to have. Assault is good if you want a general class to kill people, not worrying too much about what the map is.

thanks but im playing more as assault right now. i think i'd probably make a terrible medic tbh lol

my trigger fingers gotten a bit better now i just had my first positive kdr lol, but i have the second AR now which is much better than the starting one.

my main gripe to be honest is range and shotguns - a) which AR has the best range (without sacrificing all its damage) and b) can you unlock shotties as secondary weapons? or is it just the pistol?

thanks - oh and which maps are the best for infantry fighting - i can't really do much to tanks unless i play as recon or engineer

PS. @TheUserName...

Ye if i unlock medic points though it wont get me better AR stuff only medic stuff right? i do wanna use them all at one point but right now im happy with Assault - avoiding tanks can be as much fun as taking them on sometimes anyway lol

Edit: Oh and as a guide... which maps would you consider to be the small ones and which the large? Any not mentioned ill count as medium. Just so i have an idea because Assault on Heavy Metal i found out was largely boring because i was running for ages then getting blown up by tanks lol

Shotguns unlock as you rank up as primaries for any class, but some of the first ones are pretty much useless. There's also some perks and stuff that you don't get until later on that help them out.

No doubt you've ran across the Magnum Ammo?

No what is it? All i've unlocked so far is the XM8 Prototype, the first shotgun & the saiga. im using the XM8

How soon will i be able to have a secondary weapon that isn't a pistol? Or if you can't, then which pistol do you think has the farthest range?

Oh and how many levels do i need to reach before i can get the perks (or Specialisations)?

From what I remember, there aren't any others except the tagger, which is just a pistol that fires tracer darts for missile lock on.

The pistols all come down to preference really, they're best used when you don't have the time to reload and you're in a sticky situation, in which case you just want to aim and spam like crazy, so the one with the biggest clip might come in handy.

I can't remember how many levels it is until you get the specializations, but it shouldn't be too long =)

Oh what fun to shoot your own team with tracer darts

. I'd say the Rex probably has the best range and highest damage but it is the slowest pistol so I use it for every class except Recon (where I use the M1911).

Lol its funny you said that i was just playing 5 mins ago and went in copter for the first time and a squaddie got in with me and i somehow flew up off the ground about 20 feet and then crashed on the spot haha lol

The first time I picked it up I got a collateral headshot on that map, so yeah, I guess I quite like it too.

My mates were pretty annoyed come to think of it.

i have a few more questions need helpin with and figured theres no need for a new thread so does anyone know the following:

what are the dog tags, what do they mean and what do the different colours signify? oh and which are unique?

in bf1943 you could take the gunner on a tank out with a well-placed bullet or a rocket/grenade to the topside of the tank - is that still the case or are they protected by the tank now like the driver?

atm im Assault class and have no intent to change right now cus im doing good on Nelson Bay where its all infantry fighting. But does anyone have any tips for Assault class in general?
Like for example, the best weapon for my needs - accuracy at range is my priority, damage second and clip size third. I have all the Assault kit.

The dog tags are acquired when you knife an enemy. I'm not actually sure what the different colours mean though.

Yup, depending on which tank, you can still take the gunner out.

For Assault, the M16 is pretty good IMO.

thanks, i heard the other good assault rifle is the M416 is that the one you mean? Would you recommend that over the XM8 Prototype?

Also i've heard to use a scope/sight on the M416 to compensate for it shooting a bit above the sights, which means i can't use Lightweight - do you think Lightweight really matters that much or should i just get used to not using my trusty red dot sight?

what about the f2000? im tempted to use it for the fire rate alone

Yes, three shot bursts. You can repeatedly tap the R1 button and it is almost automatic.

The F2000 is pretty accurate as long as you use it in very short bursts and very good for short range.
