![]() ![]() ![]() | Who knew 40gb would be too smallI've just spent the morning clearing old data from my PS3 after running out of HDD space. Never though 40gb would be too small, especially since I don't have any music or videos on it, it was all game data and a couple of demos Anyway going to upgrade the HDD now since I could pretty much quadrupel my capacity for only around £30. |

| iBook | I reccomend Western Digital (WD) Scorpio Blue WD5000BEVT 500GB 2.5 inch Internal SATA Hard Drive (Sony Playstation PS3 Compatible) - Computing at Play.com (UK) I also got a 40GB but I will probably be getting one of the Slims soon.

![]() | I've got the same problem. Only game-saves and demos yet they take up so much room. You can however use a Network Drive(I use Lacey) to add to the drive space, however due to it being a 'wifi drive' it can be quite slow.

![]() | thats not the system thats actually the size of the harddrive Quote:
80GB = 74GiB 100GB = 93GiB 120GB = 111GiB 160GB = 148GiB 200GB = 186GiB 250GB = 232GiB 300GB = 279GiB 320GB = 297GiB 400GB = 372GiB 500GB = 465GiB 750GB = 697GiB 1000GB = 930GiB So the PS3 must only take up about 5gb | |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I thought the hdd space reported by the PS3 didn't include it's own system files. And the few GB missing was the "table of contents" all drives have (I can't remember the proper name for this As I was typing this I got the dispatch notification email for the new HDD lol Last edited by -null-; 04-01-11 at 04:15 PM.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | New hard drive arrived today and is now installed and working Was really easy to do as well, even when I got a "system software cannot be run error". I just needed to download the latest PS3 update and put it on a usb memory stick. PS3 read it from there and off we went. |
