COD connection problems..

Totally agree with you. Great game but you can only play a certain amount of games before it crashes.

Half way through a match it will suddenly come up with: Host migration. Jeez, what a load of bollocks.

Or the PS3 just can't handle it and will crash :/

Isn't host migration where the original host has left so it's choosing another host so the game can continue?

yep you're right but more often than not it fails to even connect to a new host.

Little question: How do you tell if your the host? I keep hearing people on headset saying they're the host.

I think you know if everyone has yellow bars and you are the only one with full bars

Host migration is simply the host leaving the game, Treyarch cannot fix that and it is an extremely helpful part of the game. Before MW2 the game would just end if the host left.

That happens when the host leaves 'incorrectly' if they just click leave game, then they're fine, but if they turn of the PS3 by the power switch, turn it off by holding down the PS button and selecting "Turn off PS3" or even if they just disconnect their router/ethernet cable, the host migration will fail. The same was the case for MW2

Some easy signs

1) You spawn first
2) You are the first to have Four full green bars
3) You have a distinct advantage over opponents that don't even realise that you've turned the corner, while host advantage as allowed you to get behind them and stab them in the back.

Quick semi related question...

I've been playing cod2 online every few nights, but i've noticed my ping lately had been just below 500.

Is there any way i can improve that without messing with the router/internet? its not mine (my dads) so i cant do anything about that, but is there anything i can do on my computer that can improve it? i'm sure i cant, but i know nothing about this, any advice would be great.

i still play until i'm kicked out for high ping, but its starting to get annoying when my bullets fly right through everyone.

Do you know if your NAT is open? If not that could be causing the problems. If you google how to open NAT for Xbox Live you can find out how to open it... should help the connection!

Im playing this on my macbook pro, (which i know is not ideal) and its also call of duty 2, not modern warfare 2...

My bad... maybe have a search in google and see if there are any ports you can open in your router to help sort out the ping problem!

I play MW2 on my pc and you have to have NAT open or you wont be able to play properly online. Check your router guide for how to configure it. Dead easy if i remember rightly.

Finally got COD4 today after such a late delivery from thehut.com! Never going to order from there again.

Anyways, the game is really hard! I can barely muster up a good killstreak! Hopefully i'll get better, already hating the players who use juggernaut

Haha well complete the game on veteran first, that'll test you

The highest killstreak you can get is 7 for the chopper, so with a bit of practise you can get that.
