Xbox 360 help...

Can someone tell me the difference between the £89.99 and £84.99 360s at Consoles - Xbox 360 - Preowned at Gamestation.co.uk ?

One of the students I support at work is after an xbox 360 after one he had a while back died from RROD and was thrown away by his parents.

I know it is possible to *ahem* acquire games off the net for a 360 but whats the difference between these two?

ne seems to have a 20gb memory but the other one doesnt

The £89.99 one is a core which means it doesnt have a hard drive
and the £84.99 version does
without a harddrive you would not be able to download themes, demos, map packs etc...

It seems for sure that the £84.99 is a much better deal. For £5 less, you get more, if you know what I mean (You get the 20GB hard drive with it). As said before, it is quite essential that you have a hard drive if you are to download games, add-ons, videos or anything of the sort. A storage unit is needed anyway to save games, and the £84.99 has a hard drive meaning that is sorted. If you don't get a hard drive, you WILL need a memory stick to save games.

Even if they kept the hard drive from the old console, I would seriously recommend the £84.99 option since it is cheaper and comes with another hard drive anyway.

I thought thats the difference, so why are they selling one with a hard drive cheaper than one without? doesnt seem right to me. Its like save £5 and get a free HDD

Yeah, Gamestation have probably made a mistake and haven't seen this. I'd get in there quick before they may realise since they can't take anymore money if you have already ordered. The only thing they can do is lower the price of the other xbox even more so that it becomes less expensive without a hard drive.

Couldn't it be something as simple as the age of the consoles seeing as they are pre-owned?

It could well be the age of the console, but it doesn't specify age or condition, just that it has been owned before. They may have many xbox 360 core units to sell without hard drives (all preowned) with different ages, and the same for the units with the HDDs. I'm sure if you buy from Gamestation you have some kind of guarantee anyway? Not completely sure on their policy, however.

Thinking about it it could be an older unit, such as the pre-jasper models which are more likely to die from the RROD, there's also the HDMI port.

The arcade models and older core models (pre jasper era) don't have an HDMI port.

I would still go for the £85 one though, if he's looking for a good XBox, he'll have to get a new one anyway.

My kid brother had a pre owned one from gamestation last year, it got the rrod after a couple of months but they exchanged it with no hassle. Just keep the recipt and you're fine. They come with a 12 month warranty

The PS3 and Xbox are equal in every single way, the only difference is the people who are on it. If you're friends are on PS3, buy PS3, if you're friends are on Xbox, buy Xbox.

im not a gullible fanboy at all so be quiet. the xbox has faults just as much as the ps3. the difference is that the xbox has FAR more decent games and exclusives than the ps3. i bought the ps3 for 2 maybe 3 games and am regretting doing so. im not saying this will be the case for everyone but i am talking about myself specifically. there have only been a few games that interested me on the ps3 though but the xbox still has me coming back for more.
