PS3 Motion tracking E3

Was just browsing CNET and found this from Sony.

Motion tracking for the PS3, with the use of the eye toy.

Videos - Free video downloads and streaming video - CNET TV

Looks pretty sweet, as they say some experiences need a button to use.

If only they can pinch or make thier own Project Natal that the Xbox360 has shown, then think of the gaming possibilities!

To be honest I think this is more along the lines of how it will actually be with Natal too.
I think there has been a bit of tv trickery with the natal video.

This looks awesome though.

Yeah i agree, I doubt any of the footage of the natal project is real at all. Especially when the girl is driving the car and her dad gets up and changes the tire. I would be amazed if it can pick out a single person while sitting on a sofa full of people, then change to someone else.

Although the Natal project looks impressive the lack of any release date indicates it is still a way off. It has been successful in stealing away the spotlight from some of Sony's announcements though.

I like it, but it seems to me that like the Wii it can't really be used all that seriously. With Natal, it seems a lot more professional and just awesome, as it can be used so simply even for the multimedia side with films, music etc.

I will be buying a 360 instantly when more details about Natal are released

Although from the 2 natal does look more responsive etc (if that is all real) I still don't think I'd like having nothing. I'd prefer the PS3 thing where you actually hold and point and use something

I agree, and whilst Natal may be excellent for some games and the multimedia side, I am sure that they will come to realise that people generally want a trigger, or some form of physical object connected to the game.

If the PS3 thing really gets to the audience then no doubt Xbox will copy it, and it shouldn't be hard if Natal is really that good at tracking.

Natal just wouldnt work very well with fps, or any 3d action as how will you change direction etc without pressing a button. Also i reckon the PS3 wand looked more responsive than Natal and you could stand anywhere in the room and it would track it.

Sony are the only ones to realise that games being completely motion sensitive is gimmicky. You do need some buttons for it to work properly, imo.
