Xbox360 wireless adapter

hi all,

i'm tryin to sort out xbox live prior to me getting my free xbox. i really don't want to pay £55 for an official adapter when my modem and router are only about 10 feet away from where my xbox is going to be.

my modem runs directly into this PC, but also runs separately into a router which broadcasts the signal downstairs to a Mac.

which is the easiest and cheapest way for me to hook up my xbox live?

Re: Xbox360 wireless adapter

If your Xbox is close to the router then you can just plug in the Ethernet Cable into your router and the other side into your 360.
That's what i do.

Ethanet cable does good. I have 20m of cable drilled around the house. saved me taking my xbox/ps2 downstairs everytime i wanted to go online.

Re: Xbox360 wireless adapter

ethernet cable gets my vote to.

Adding/using wifi will add a extra degree of lag to the online gaming experience, and it will cost you more to!

If ethernet wasnt a option you can buy gaming bridges from the main wifi router makers (belkin etc) which is a device which converts a wifi signal into 2/3 ethernet ports.

I do have a wireless adaptor, and it doesnt make a real difference to the lag (or the lag that isnt there)

I would recommend the ethernet, but if you cant do it, the wireless adaptor isnt terrible

Re: Xbox360 wireless adapter

to be fair the wireless adapter is great and its incredibly easy to set up as well. ive not had any lag on online games with mine but then the wireless signal throughout my place is spot on.

if its crap its gonna be crap whatever you use

cant go wrong with the ethernet cable though 100mb guaranteed whereas youll be lucky to get anywhere near half that with wireless overheads

measure how much you need exactly as theres loads of sellers on ebay who will knock up custom length cat5 cable

Re: Xbox360 wireless adapter

m8, i had this trouble at the start of getting a 360. I tried as hard as i could to get my router to connect with the 360. Microsoft seemed to have tried their best to stop this from happening!

EVentually after weeks of trying, i finally has to buy a wireless adapter and it worked perfectly after that. If i were you m8, i'd shell out the extra £40 as you could make 10 times that much working the time you spent on trying to get it to work without the official adapter!
