5 things i hate about the PS3

Having had my console for a few days now, i think i can now express some of the things which i dislike or are just generally annoying. Now i am by no means a 360 fan boy, having had all playstations prior to getting the 360 and would of had this sooner if i could justify the price tag. There is of course things i dont like about the 360 (the fan noise and heat being a major issue!), and there are notable faults with every console but here are a few things im not liking:

1. Short usb cable, mentioned this a few times now but it really is a pain in the butt to an extent that i have just ordered my own cables. Now why oh why oh why did sony decide to supply such a short usb lead, do they not realise that average people dont sit that close to the TV! Out of the box, i just found it annoying having to sit so close to the tv on the floor because i knew that the battery wouldnt last long. To add insult, for a £35 controller (free thank goodness) they didnt include a charging cable AT ALL! I know we should be happy that they come with built in batteries anyway and i am, but come on sony for a sake of a couple of pence...
2. Installing demos, firstly it took me ages to find them on PSN. Unless im missing a demos section, having them all jumbled up in with the pay to download games was a bit annoying. Then only to find out that they are huge, much bigger than ive noticed on the 360. But besides the fact i cant see an option for it to auto shut off after downloading the most annoying thing by far is installing demos...now why after waiting for so long for it to download would i have to wait another 10 or so minutes for it to install. You cant even do anything in those 10 minutes, as you only have a option to cancel...why?!
3. Trophy system - why bother, just seems like a after thought and from what ive read it clearly is. Its never going to be as appealing as the achievement point system on the 360, and for it to only support a limited number of games it seems pointless...
4. No rear usb ports - just simply why?! To only have 2 usb ports on the front to support all the controllers and devices it would like you to use, i even saw a printer option somewhere (wtf?!) that just seems really bad. Just one on the back would be fine, and to use something like play tv which im interested in, its just going to look bad. And the cable on the play tv unit doesnt even look long enough to pop round the back fully anyway?!
5. I must admit this point was a bit of a struggle, but it looks better to have 5 points than 4! But a hdmi cable would of been nice, once again i know cost comes into it. But it would cost sony pence and with the hefty price tag they can surely chuck one in. No problem to me as i have a few cheap cables always lying about. Oh, ive just thought of a bad point on the subject of hdmi...why oh why out of the box doesnt it work over hdmi. I'm even using it on a bravia tv (although i doubt that makes a difference) and i still had to plug both in at the same time and set it to hdmi over the AV image...

So thats me expressing my points, let the discussion begin. Feel free to express the pros and negs of other consoles, but dont let this turn into a out right console war!

here here so bang on to the point. for me it the 360 for games and the ps3 for movies

the online is so much better on the 360.

agreed, even if PS3 people say its not better because you have to pay £40 a year, i'd much rather pay that than have the online playstation.
and with all the new xbox dashboard updates coming, its only going to get better!

I think the idea is that you charge the controller when not using it, and when you are you don't keep it plugged in.

I'd say the flaw is that the USBs don't work when the console's on standby (when you'd want to be charging the controllers).


Completely agree that there should be a demos section tho, but I guess they know if you're looking through the PSN for demos you'll likely come across something you'd be willing to buy. Whereas if they had a demo section people wouldn't see them.

Previous generation PS2 > Xbox
But this generation PS3 < Xbox 360
