I have a problem! which one?

With larkino helping me to get my last ref on nextgen i should have an 80gb PS3 arriving early next month. Problem is i am also waiting on my £300 amazon voucher from freepay. I was originally planning to buy a wii with the vouchers (and games) and just sell the ps3, but now tempted to keep the ps3 and sell the voucher.

Now, what do you think i should do? this is not a question of is the wii better than the ps3 or vice versa, this is a question of which one do you think i need.

as you may have guessed i already have an xbox 360, (which i love and am not planning to sell for now) so that will take up a bit of space. (on my stand) My Home Cinema system also takes up alot of space. (the whole bottom shelf infact) Now, looking at the picture below, if i move my games and my controllers, do you think i could fit a ps3 in there next to the 360? i know a wii would fit, but ps3s are apparently quite big.

any comments or input will be thanked.

I'd go for the Wii. The PS3 and 360 are too similar.

You've got the same TV as me!

Get a DVD/games stand with the voucher to put the games on. Put the Xbos controllers on the Xbox and move it along to fit the ps3 on that shelf. Buy a few games for it and get a Wii as well with the rest of the voucher.

hmmm. thanks for the input. i don't think i'd have enough inputs if i had all three.

ps3 used hdmi yes? what does the wii use?

i may do what you said saint, but i may give the wii to my family. i feel charitable.

Mines on a scart, had to get a hub as my Sky+ is also on a scart and I have a DVD player. Though when my PS3 comes i'll ditch the DVD player like a 16 year old chav who just found out his 14 year old skank has one in the oven thus freeing space a Wii only scart.

The Wii also has those red, yellow, white, male to female thingys, but I don't the TV has an input for those.

kk, the hannspree tvs are actuall really good for inputs. i've got the 32", i think you have the 37" if i'm not mistaken? anyway 2 scarts and 2 hdmi isn't bad :P

If you are really desperate for HD Wii, you can get a HDMI cable for it. I bought it, used it once, sent it back. Didn't make a difference...

Keep the wii. The PS3 is more expensive anyway, so you would get more for it!

question here, you know how to get wireless wifi on the 360 you have to buy the wireless add on (which i have).

it wifi built in on the ps3?

If you have no plans to sell your 360 then get the wii.

The PS3 and 360 are similar types of console, with lots of similar types of games.

The Wii is something a little different.

For me personally, having a 360 and a Wii would be better than having a 360 and a PS3.

I personally find downloading using wi-fi on the PS3 to be much slower than using wi-fi on the 360.

Personally I would go for both the Wii and the PS3.

The PS3 has Blueray, which for me distinguishes itself enough form the Xbox.

I also disagree with ilikefree, when I bought my HDMI cable for the Wii it made the world of difference, BUT I only have a 26" TV so the picture is not as stretched as on the larger screens.

I voted for PS3 because it's a blu-ray player and has some great games coming out for it... FF, Resi Evil 5 etc... and MGS4 is a great game!

Also checkout PS3 Home and Mirrors Edge!

That's a toughy because of the back catalogue / future titles argument. Obviously with your xbox which you're not selling for good reason you get great nextgen gaming with Fallout 3, Alan Wake, and Resi 5 to name only a few upcoming gems, let alone the amazing back catalogue.

So If you haven't already played a Wii you've got Mario Galaxy, Zelda Twilight Princess, and Resi 4 to catch up on (if you haven't played Resi on gamecube) as reasons to get the Wii.

But the PS3 on the other hand has Metal Gear 4 and....er.....um......(cough). BUT! It does have Little Big Planet coming soon (possibly one of the most innovative games to appear on any console ever, and is PS3 exclusive), and don't forget the ability to play Blu-ray, which is a great reason to keep it for the future seeing as hddvd is now dead.

I'd say get both for the moment, keep the PS3 permanently and race through zelda and mario on the wii then get rid of that (either sell or give to family).

Also in terms of inputs don't forget your tv probably has component inputs as well, which would be great for the wii seeing as it's only standard def. This leaves hd ports free for xbox and ps3. I've just set my ps2 up again as a dvd player into my hd tv via component and the difference between scart and component is astounding, obviously not as good as Hd but much, much sharper and clearer than fuzzy scart/phono connection.

EDIT: Good point corky, forgot about the new FF and mirror's edge, that game sounds awesome! So in that case i'm no longer torn, definately keep the ps3 but those 2 wii games are still worth a play
