60gb xbox 360?

Apparently it's going to come out pretty soon. better sell my old 360 and get an elite sometime.

the 120gb is apparently too big, but the 20gb is too small so microsoft got made on in the middle! reduced prices aswell.

its enough space for quite alot of demos and game videos, plus loads of themes/gamer pictures

although the Elite does look cool

Well soon your be able to play games of the hdd, so 20gb isnt going to really cut it. Think i might have to get an elite if memory becomes a issue.

From a gamespot news story on July 13th:
"Microsoft UK has confirmed to GameSpot that the price cut and new model are not currently planned for Europe. A spokesperson said, "The 60GB Xbox 360 and the 20GB clearance sale are for the US only. We have not announced any changes in Xbox 360 offerings or pricing in Europe."

by that logic, we could also say releasing new, bigger hard drives for computers is a money-grubbing tactic, as is new graphics cards, new RAM, etc.

releasing the new drive as a stand-alone upgrade for existing console owners is the right way to do things, unlike Sony who have no plans to release the 80GB PS3 HDD seperately, thus meaning anyone wanting a larger HDD is going to have to buy the new console just for an extra 40GB (if they're not tech-savvy enough to realise the hard drive is upgradeable, something Sony haven't exactly gone out of their way to highlight).

neither marketing tactic is exactly a non-profit endeavour, but at least MS are making upgrades for existing console owners possible without them having to replace their system entirely.

no it isn't
because for the more recent games, more ram, better GPU are required.
they do maybe release too many, but they are still needed
with a harddrive for an xbox, its not needed to create a bigger harddrive. there is definately enough space for all your games/demos/videos etc.

The funny thing is atm on amazon, the 60gb 360 is £10 cheaper than the 20gb!

well i suppose the need for space depends on how many games you have, how many XBLA DLC titles you have, how much media etc.

but with DLC and episodic content becoming much more common now - Mass Effect, Orange Box and GTAIV all jumping on the episodic/DLC bandwagon, to point out the most mainstream examples - and the upcoming 'install games to HDD' feature which drastically cuts load times the extra space is actually a lot more helpful than I think you're giving it credit for.

20GB is a lot of space to start out with, but it's not infinite, and it's really not a lot if you also want access to the multitudes of games, DLC and media available through XBL.

yes but if you do need more space, you can buy a larger harddrive. They didn't need to bring out a bigger harddrive with a consoles, it was unnecessary
