PS3 80gb

I know pretty much everyone on this forum has a ps3 by now, but whos planning on getting the new ps3 80gb - free or otherwise?

I've got enough on the the incentive network, providing the lovefilm pendings are good and im hoping that they will go green as close as possible to the release date. If the new network gets it to me near the release date i will be very impressed and happy as it can act as a late bday present! Ive seen it listed on game now who are taking pre orders and what amused me was the "does not feature list"!

I'm a little dissapointed about them not bringing back backwards compatibility as i do have a lot of ps2 games, however its not the end of the world due to still having a ps2. The card readers and additional usbs would of been nice also, strange move from sony launching it with more features than it does now - whilst others adopt the other approach and add additional features! Its quite funny that they arent even going to include a ethernet cable now which surely costs them half a penny!

But despite all this im not bothered and still want one (as long as its free), getting the new DS3 controller bundled in at last is an obvious advantage and i can play catch up with all the games to date (quite good since they have fallen in price quite a bit since sony starting their platinum range for this gen). The bigger hdd out of the box is also nice!

In the mean time despite getting a few new 360 games im tempted just to cash in some refs and get a wii to fill the gap until i get my hands on a ps3! That way i get to join the 3 console club too!

So who else is getting one/hoping to get one? I thought originally it was the 26th or something but it says the 29th on game so im not too sure? Either way i guess those of you who have enough refs for a ps3 now will be happy to wait to secure the new model!

I'm not too bothered with it.

I had a 60gb and sold it for silly money on ebay £502

Then got a 40gb from nextgen.GA and have just sold that too.

I will wait till the autumn and the release of the new shape ps3 and then probably get another one.

For me the nintendo wii p!sses all over both the ps3 and the 360, even more so if you have got wii fit.

I'm currently ADDICTED to Super Mario Galaxy, its immense. And here's me thinking the days of single player non online games were over.

Get a Wii mate, you will not regret it !!

Was initially interested in this but then read that there will still be no backwards compatibility so basically all it is is the same console but with a bigger memory, which is fine for people who need the memory.

I will stick with my 40GB but if a 80GB comes my way, I guess it will get a few £££ more.

Well yer i agree, there are no new great enhancements just a bigger hdd and dualshock 3. But at the same price and for someone like myself who doesnt have a ps3 id be silly to request the 40gb even if the lovefilms clear sooner than expected!

I've got a ps4 40gb (which is more than enough gigs for me) and a wii, i love them both but i don't know how anyonw can say the wii is better than the ps3!!! Yes they're both good in their own ways, but the ps3 is by far the best out of the two, as well as the xbox!

I suppose its a matter of what you want in a console.

Me, i was brought up on the snes vs the megadrive and nes v master system, and back then games were fun.

Now alot of games are all too real, and as graphically immense as xbox 360 and ps3 games are, alot of them fail to capture any real enjoyment for me.
They are mostly all massive fan fare games that explode in high def onto your tv screens and for the first few hours have you thinking WOW, but then once the immediate graphical awe wares off i tend to find that the games arent really that good, and they just tread the same lines as ps2 games and xbox games.

With the wii they have re-invented gaming, and injected the fun back into a market that was severely lacking it. It has always been a nintendo trait ... fun easy to play games (often reffered to a cutesy games) but nevertheless very easy and fun to play.

Take mario galaxy for instance, its just superb, it made me realise that its not all about online gaming and its the reason that i havent turned my ps3 on for nearly a month.

Games like Zelda & Mario just ooooze quality and playability, then add into the bargain the fact that all these games use a much sweeter more interactive control system just make the fun ... even more fun, and don't get me started on how good wii fit is

Don't get me wrong both the 360 and the ps3 are good in their own right, but in my opinion they arent really making games that are any better to play than any of the games on the ps2 and xbox were.

The only game i really played on both my ps3 and my xbox 360 was cod 4. That is an awesome game, but for all their power, that is still the only game that i really rate on both systems.

Oh and lets not forget super mario kart wii (i dont yet own this but have played it and it seems like it might be even better than the old snes version)

You can't beat the original Mario Kart... that game was legend!

This is turning into another which console is better thread. They're all good in there own ways. Have had all three but have none atm lol. Looking a PS3 80GB for blu-ray, MGS4 etc... Would love an Xbox 360 aswell, is hard to live without Halo 3 and Call of Duty on Xbox Live. Not the biggest fan of the Wii, it's more of a novelty console to me!

Yer well i think i might get a wii with some refs, this seems to be the best deal (since its the wiis rrp with mario kart so should be standard refs). Just waiting for it to come back into stock, hope it does!:
