![]() | Will Microsoft Charge Me?Hi Guys, Well it's finally come to the point where I've lost patience with my Xbox 360. First GTA IV stops working after doing 30% odd on it and now won't run, and now daily the 'Please put in a Xbox 360 disc' appears resulting in me having to open/close the tray 3 or 4 times. It also does a lovely grinding noise which I'm sure isn't good for my games! Sometimes doesnt' even recognise a game is in there and says Play DVD So what I was wondering is would I have to pay the 50 odd quid that Microsoft states on it's web site to fix it or would it come under their 3 year warranty thing, though I think that's just for the red lights of death. Any suggestions would be appreciated guys and girls. Thanks. P.S. Maybe I can force my Xbox to give me the red light problem and then it's free!

![]() | Re: Will Microsoft Charge Me?if it doesn't have the falcon chipset, i agree. that ain't a console, it's a prototype. any 360s using the older chipsets should be eligible for a free upgrade to the opus chipset under the terms of the revised extended warranty. you should try contacting microsoft and ask them about it. or you could join up with the conga linked in mah siggy and work towards a ps3 for a mere ten refs. sorry, the opportunity for a shameless plug was too damn great.

![]() | Re: Will Microsoft Charge Me?Agree with the towel idea, MS also replaces anything else that is wrong with the Xbox went it is sent in for repair, I sent a mates 360 in for 3 RROD and they gave him not only a new motherboard, but also a new Disc drive (which was scraping & not playing his games). Working fine ever since. Hope you get it fixed! |

![]() | Re: Will Microsoft Charge Me?Thanks Temple, liking that they replace other parts that are faulty/old too. You ever manage to fix yours Lucaio or too much risk in opening it up?

| iPod 30gb | Re: Will Microsoft Charge Me?To be honest I don't really want to open it up. But as a temporary fix just whack (lightly) the top of your xbox just infront of the hard drive (Above the disc tray), and that should get it working for a day or two. What sounds like the best idea though is forcing the RRoD using the towel method so you can get a free replacement from MS (That's if you still have your warranty).

have to try the towels method as it annoys the hell out of me. Think because of the 3 year warranty extension I'll be alright, think mine's 2006 (a classic model
