| The Jacks R Goin UP!! | Red Rings of DeathGuess what! Have had my xbox for 2 years and now getting the red rings of death. Started this morning, playing GTA it would freeze 20 seconds after I started playing. Tried it 6 times. Rang xbox support they told me to take off the hard drive, which worked, then put it back on and guess what.... 3 red lights and in need of repair. Good thing is though as Microsoft have extended the warranty for 3 years they will repair it for free. No more GTA for a month! Can't fault the customer service though.

| iPod Nano 2GB | Re: Red Rings of DeathIf you're under warranty that's great. If you were in desperate need of your 360, then you could Google "Xbox 360 Towel Trick" which involves putting towels around the Xbox while it's running. This, theoretically, melts that solder and transistors inside after about 20 minutes. You then take the towel off and shove your XBOX outside in the cold.. The solder hardens and the connects are re-established. This is only a temporary measure for about 2 weeks. However, you'd have to be a complete tard (or insane) to try this!

| Ultima Pwnage | Re: Red Rings of DeathMy brother's 360 had this like 2 months ago, so we decided to call up and set a repair. The first stage was to wait for an email that Dave from Pakistan was going to send us. Fair enough, it was only an email and wouldn't take long to deliver. Wrong. About 4 phone calls later, spread over a month, we are still waiting for a simple email to arrive. Every time we ring them again we are just told 'please calm down, let me take your details'. What, the details we have already given to you like 4 freaking times!! Arghh. Guess I'll try using my persuasive voice on Monday. EDIT: About the towel trick. Don't do it! Things aren't meant to be overheated, and this will in no way help you in the long run.

![]() | Re: Red Rings of DeathI had the quickest turnaround ever for repairs Phoned customer support up on a Monday night, the UPS van came about 9AM the next morning, I didn't even have a box ready for my console so he had to come back later to pick it up (Why you cant use the box it came in is beyond me!) I got it back in about a week, a refurbished one I think as it says it was manufactured in 2005. No problems with it so far (im on my 3rd XBOX by the way!)
