eXceem - Noisy PS3 game disks

Got a new game today (nascar 09) and looked forward to getting home and playing it. Anyway, the game seems to play quite well but I have a real problem with the sound.

Not the sound in the game, the problem seems to lie with the disk. Basically when the disk is in the machine it sounds like the hoover, and almost as noisy, which kinda spoils the game .

Is this a common problem and how can it be fixed (preferably without sending it back to amazon)

Pop in another disc now and see if the noise is present, if is is then your lens may need cleaning or it might be a bigger problem with the drive itself. Otherwise its likely to be just the disc which has a slight scratch or it could have lots of layers which means it has to sping faster (i dont know how ps3 discs are made up, might be just one layer!) alternatively they may have used a coating. I remember ps2 discs sometimes used to have a blue tint to them and they always made more noice in the drive..

P.s. cant you save it to the HDD? = No noise

Have you tried changing the position of the PS3 as in if it's lying down then stand it up?

That's the beauty of the 360, no matter how noisy the disc is you won't hear it over the fan.
