![]() | Anyone upgraded their PS3 HDD?Hey, should hopefully be verifying for my PS3 this week, thinking about getting a replacement hard drive for it, just wondering if anyone's done it? and if they can recomend a replacement hard drive? I was looking at Millennium Computers 2001 Ltd > 160 GB IBM/HITACHI 2.5" SATA 150 5400RPM 8MG CACHE HDD but I don't know much about what's needed other than that it needs to be a 2.5 inch, and preferably 5400RPM (so I've heard). Thanks in advance Kev |

![]() | Re: Anyone upgraded their PS3 HDD?I replaced my hard drive with this one Western Digital 250GB 2.5" Hard Drive SATA150 5400rpm 8MB Cache - OEM - Ebuyer basically you want a 2.5" SATA hard drive thats 5400rpm. It's very easy to do but the screws are very tight as they will have been machined in. I used a watch repair screw driver which I put in my drill to get the first turns. without doing this you will probably not be able to get the screws off or end up destroying the srew. after that you basically just put it in screw it back up then turn your ps3 back on and format the drive over night

![]() | Re: Anyone upgraded their PS3 HDD?the only thing with that hard drive is its only about 230gb because of the way they go off how many bits there are and do it by 1000s but thats the same with alot of hard drives like the one in my laptop is supposed to be 100gb but its only really 90gb. I got that one after reading alot of reviews of people who had used it in their PS3. the other thing, you don't really need to upgrade your hard drive, games don't take up that much room. I did it because I download stuff like Lost and films and things and I don't have alot of room on the laptop and you can transfer videos and music and pictures over your internet connection by using windows media player. so I'm using it more as an external hard drive. but yeah if you are going to download lots of stuff and use your PS3 for everything that it can do and not just playing games then you might need a bigger hard drive

![]() | Re: Anyone upgraded their PS3 HDD?I download it onto my computer first and then add it to windows media library. if you go onto your settings on windows media there is a thing called media sharing, if you have your PS3 on the same connection as your computer then your PS3 will show up in the box and you just say it is ok to share media with it. then when you go on your PS3 under video, music, picture tabs your computer will show up and then you can either just stream the files so they will play on your TV or copy them directly to your PS3 the sharing thing on media player, goto options then library then configure sharing and check the box to say share media. if your ps3 is online then it should be in the list as an unknown device aslong as nothing else is connected to your internet you know it's your ps3. just click the options to let it share and the types of file you want it to share
