Sony PSP Slim!

PlayStation Portable Slim - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quote:
New hardware features are as follows:

Comes with Firmware 3.60
Faster loading times by storing UMD data in temporary memory.
Internal memory (FLASH) increase from 32 MB to 64 MB
Improved battery life due to lower power consumption, and battery recharge over the USB data connection. However the old, higher-capacity PSP battery will still be compatible and using it will give an increased battery life, but the battery cover will not close when using the old battery due to the larger size. Sony will release a High Capacity Power Kit with a bigger battery cover to fit over the old batteries.
Weight is 33% lighter
Actual PSP is 19% slimmer
A video-out port for displaying on a TV.
Improved responsiveness of d-pad[1] and buttons, confirmed in the GameSpot "hands-on" review; "several GameSpot editors have noticed that the d-pad and buttons on the new PSP provide a little more tactile feedback for a better overall feel."[2]
WiFi switch moved to the top of the console.
New UMD loading tray design.
Removal of the infra-red port, which was ultimately not used on the original PSP.
Speakers repositioned on the front of the PSP near the top of the screen.
Different area to insert Memory Stick.

Anyone gonna offer these?

It's still 19% though. It looks to be a good model. Is it the same price?

I'd say the best bit about it is that it's 33% lighter. That's a huge diet as they are quite heavy for a portable console.

Does anyone find the design of the PSP a little awkward? It's not the best for comfortable hold....

Yeah they weigh a ton

I don't see the major differences, don't know if having more memory will make it much quicker?
Firmware update to make homebrew impossible and a bigger price tag, got mine in the US the day it came out (Was on holiday didn't go there specially )
But I would definatly consider having the new one cos i'm a gadget freak.

I know this will turn into a PSP vs DS debate, so i'll say this. Movie playback and quality of the LCD . . . don't think I need to say anymore

Re: Sony PSP Slim!

I was due to get a PSP from ConsoleSnatchers but took the money instead as I wanted the new model.

The best thing about it is that it has a video out function so you can watch movies or play games on a HDTV

As for Homebrew... it's only a matter of time

The video-out will be used by many people for recording gameplay and uploading to YouTube too!
