Wii wi fi

Hi, well i'm due a Wii from Xpango in the next week or two and i am already looking at purchases in advance of this. I don't have a wireless network at home so i was wondering if anyone knows whether this item i saw on Ebay will allow me to play Wii online if i plug this device into my Laptop i.e. would it work for a Wii-

eBay.co.uk: Wireless LAN Network USB Wi-Fi WiFi Dongle Adapter UK (item 160121687526 end time 30-May-07 19:02:45 BST)

Also has anyone played the Mario football game and is it any good?? It gets good reviews on Amazon and i was wondering whether they are accurate.

Thanks!

Eh?? Computers aren't my thing. You mean something i can use to plug the Wii straight into the internet connection bypassing the laptop altogether??

I would rather have it wireless if i can as i intend to have the Wii in a different room to the laptop/internet connection, would that item allow that??

Thanks but like i say i'm looking for wireless as my Wii and internet connection will be in different rooms and i don't want wires around the house. You can do wireless with the Wii i know that and there is an official Wii thing that looks like the Ebay item i posted above but it is a lot more expensive and i just wanted to make sure the Ebay one did the same job.

Re: Wii wi fi

If you have wireless broadband,Im pretty sure you would be able to use WiFi on your Wii without having to purchase a dongle/adaptor...
I have BT Total Broadband Option3 and for the past week have been usig WiFi on my DS,so they should be pretty much the same thing really

What Callum says is true. If you already have a wireless broadband connection, there's no need to buy anything else to use your Wii online. At the moment I dont have any games that can be played online but I have used the built in wireless to download updates.

However, as you dont have a wireless connection at home, this wont be any use to you, lol.

what arcitic says is true but not all routers work with the ds/wii !! as i found out last when i first got my ds and ran out to buy mario kart hoping to play online.. but the router wasn't supported and the connection cut off after 5 mins.. common problem with certain routers.. anyways this site should help you out..

NintendoWIFI.com

it covers different ways of getting online with nintendo.. with and without wires lol

Thanks for the help everyone, i'm not wireless yet but i've seen some good prices for wireless internet and the like so i might delay the dongle idea while i look into th wireless.

I'm looking at wireless generally and not just for the Wii before any points out the dongle would be cheaper!!

I was thinking dongle sounded fairly rude and was trying to think of a way to make some "dongle" based innuendo but i'm not up to it today with my really bad hayfever. Apologies but if anyone wants to pepper with innuendo go for it.

Nah no news i'm afraid!! They said last Tuesday i would have it within 7 days (could have meant working days!) and at the weekend they said they should get a delivery early in the week but nothing more than that i'm afraid. I get the impression they do a lot of their work in the evening so i may hear something tonight.

I'll post a pic when i get it but it'll mean borrowing a camera so that might not be till the weekend. I'll PM you though if that's the case just to let you know.

Though my big Ipod just died so it's tempting to cancel and get an extra credit for a new instead.

Only kidding!!! Didn't mean to get your hopes up!! Rather have a wii than an Ipod!
