It was a tricky decision to be made, but I had people wanting to donate 1 green on a competition on their website, have it posted on eXceem and endorsed by me. So the decision was made for eXceem to no longer endorse comeptitions hosted on sites other than eXceem and free gift networks.

Members are still welcome to offer competition prizes to eXceem, and if you have a idea for external competitions do run they by me if you feel it could be worth it.

I've run many comps in the past that didn't involve my site and gave a variety of prizes away, mostly to people who hadn't received much in freebies.

A sad day, especially when everything is so bloody negative on here these days.

Edit - Not that many people will see this, comps don't show up on spy.

You not see that bit?

Comps was removed from spy during spam comp, will re-add it. It still shows on new posts.

If a member wished to donate a prize to exceem and have us run it through exceem, and not through they're own site, that's fine, just not ones through people's own sites.

Emma is not well and has gone for a earlier night, otherwise I would be beating her now...

Competitions ran through eXceem are fine. Competitions ran by networks are fine. Competitions ran through other sites are not fine - though may well setup a competitions forum similar to online freebies which could allow them to be posted there.

If a member donates prizes to exceem and exceem runs the competition, would that member get any credit for doing so?

I've only just seen this and the first thing that springs to my mind is that the only reason is exceem would get all credit for the competition and the prize being given away. Furbs is the most generous person i've ever met on a forum and the competitions he's ran are the best i've actually entered. Banning members competitions is just ridiculous.

Things just seem to be getting worse and worse on these forums these days, new rule after new rule etc. In a few days it'll be a year since i joined exceem and i can't beleive how much it's changed in just 12 months, theres no wonder members end up leaving or get fed up and forget about it for a while.

/Rant

Can I just have some clarification...what do exceem lose by allowing someone to post a competition? Just out of interest. I understand and respect your decisions, I am just wondering why it has been made.

Yes the member would get all the credit, and the member can have a say in how its ran. Neither eXceem or myself or anyone else would steal anyones credit. Every competition that has been ran has given full credit to whoever donated the prize (apart from one competition were the donor wished to remain anonymous)

The only competitions that have been stopped are ones that are ran on sites other than exceem/networks and wanted to be promoted/endorsed by eXceem.

The staff had a discussion asking if these "link-baiting" competitions which were for relatively small value gifts were worth running, and more recently someone who had entered such a competition had contacted me with a few concerns.

The most recent rule changes are all there to protect eXceems position from possible issues, in the norm day to day rules/how they are implemented hasn't really changed.

Why not just disallow the competitions that aren't worth running? I'm sure exceem had quite a jump in new members while competitions like this one was being ran..

Yeah, I think this is a good point and I hope you think so too Jon. I agree, it is ridiculous to run a competition for a small prize but if its a big one, i'm sure it is well worth it. Maybe you should do like a minimum amount or something.

...and there was me thinking I had given away something half decent in my three non-eXceem comps.

Rules are rules but for clarity, are you saying that I could not link to an external comp in my sig or tell people about it for example?

Guess it saves me some money, so maybe I should just leave it at that.

You can link to anything in your sig (so long as it contains a link back/is legal/etc)

The only competitions that are being stopped are ones external to eXceem, but wanting me/eXceem to verify/promote/endorse them. While I have done this in the past I have been informed of some info which prevents me doing this in the future.

If people still want to run a competition for just eXceem members and have it on eXceem thats fine, me/eXceem won't be stealing any credit and so long as its a)free to enter b)judgement system is fair then this can happen.

Can you tell me the difference between thesae as well then? If someone's linking to a comp in his sig that's run by his site, and telling people about it on here, while it may not say exceem supported etc it might as well do as it's being promoted on here,

I think he means posting a thread saying you have a competition is not allowed but you can put the info on the competition in your signature.

There is a link back on the forum to exceem and the comp is basically a referral comp, i'm just checking i'm allowed to post this because i don't want to get into any trouble

Thanks
