free £100 w/ no refs needed :D

Found this offer on MSE; basically you open a bank account with the Co-op (can be done by phone), deposit £800 once a month (for 1-3 mths depending on your branch) but you can withdraw it straight away and they'll credit a free £100 into your account!! For details check out this thread:
£100 To Open A Current Account With The Cooperative Bank - HotUKDeals Forum

Hubby's applied by phone (local Nottingham branch) and he didn't even need to mention the offer as they mentioned it to him straight away
If u're too young to apply get your parents to do it and ask for a good percentage of it..!

u don't need to actually have £800 - just use an overdraft or credit card; do the transfer then withdrawal it...!

Did it not mean you can use the same £800 each month, because it said you can withdraw it straight away.

Personally I wouldn't be bothered in case I did something wrong and ended up not quailifying. lol

that's just lazy
not hard to qualify for it.... took 5 min on the phone to open the account and will need to make a £800 transfer when we get the papers sent through the post (my branch said we only need to do one transfer to qualify); not exactly time consuming for a free £100; maybe I'm the only one who likes freebies around here

My branch is 80 miles away... it's not really laziness lol. I know it can be opened by phone and whatnot but I'd like to know I could just go in handily enough if anything came up.

It's more to the fact that people are not willing to risk £800 of their own money, no matter how slim the risk. Either way with bank transfer speeds, you're going to be without that £800 for about 10-14 working days (standard bank transfer = 5-7 working days so x2 for transferring there and back.)

So let me get this right !!!?

If i transferred £800 from my current account in september (for example) then once it clears into the new (free money) account, can i withdraw it, and use the same £800 for the month of october, then do the same again for november.... then get credited with my free £100 ???

There shouldn't be any delay in transferring funds, now that faster transfers have been introduced, all transfers under 10k should in theory be an instant process.

In an ideal world, maybe, but they aren't though, it still takes about 3 days for any money I move about. Of course it is instant between two accounts with the same bank (for me at least).

btw, I am not just against this method of getting £100 lol, it just isn't good for me personally due to the nearest branch thingy and the transfer times as steve pointed out.
